I wrote the other day about wanting to lose weight…NOW! I’m glad the post was helpful for some of you, but to be honest, I may have benefited the most. After I wrote that post, I felt as though a huge weight had been lifted. I honestly shared where I was, I created a plan for the day, and most importantly, I wrote it down. I’m here to tell you that this free, no-risk, no-pill-taking approach works. Write down how you’re feeling, what you will eat, and what exercise you will do today and see if you feel differently.
Now you don’t have to write an essay. Write a paragraph or even a sentence. Or try completing these lines:
“Today, I feel ___________.”
“Today, I will have (circle one) 3, 4, 5, or 6 meals.”
“Today, I will press Play and do today’s workout.”
Some people find it helpful to write in advance of the day and some find it helpful to report once the day is done. Either way, be honest and kind and supportive. Set realistic goals for the day, set yourself up for success (e.g., pick out your workout clothes and make your lunch the night before) and then let go of results.
Writing may not come easy at first, but any new habit takes time, repetition, and patience. Will you write down, right now, your version to the three lines above? Let’s do this together. Every day, check in and write it down. Share your process and successes below and on Facebook to help encourage others.
